Must Have Leather Jacket

Happy 2nd day of March loves!

It was one of those March days when it is Summer in the Light, and Winter in the Shade. – Charles Dickens

When mother nature is still trying to make up her mind, a good multifaceted jacket becomes a mandatory part of my wardrobe. Having the right jacket that is easy to remove when it gets warm, but is also able to keep me warm when the wind picks up. Continue Reading…

Travel Diary: My First Experience In San Antonio

October 25, 2016

As you guys know from the previous Blog, we spent a couple of days in San Antonio two weekends ago. Since it was my first time visiting the city, Matin decided to get us a room on river walk area.

To start off, Marriott staffs welcomed us warmly and upgraded our room to one of the best available ones at the time. The room itself was absolutely beautiful and spacious with an amazing view of the city and the river walk. I couldn’t resist to share the photos we took on the first day of our small trip filled with big memories with you.

San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk Hotel‘s amenities were absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, since my beau can’t go swimming or spa for at least a year, we didn’t get a chance to use them this time. We had such a great experience that we decided to always stay here when we like to be around the river walk area.

P.S. Excuse the quality of the pictures due to our lack of equipment for indoors photo shooting.

For this look, I chose a fall appropriate color dress while it was still wearable in warm long nights. You guys know how much I like wearing the A-line skirts and dresses all year around. I mean who doesn’t like the fun and flirty demeanor and the illusion of a slimmer and taller body. These types of dresses that flare out slightly are ideal for balancing out broad shoulders. Also, a fit-and-flare dress plays up the thin waist and small upper body, while minimizing the hips and thighs. I adore the color of this dress with the little shimmer to it, which makes it appropriate even for holiday season.

I prefered wearing minimal accessories and very high heels for this look since the dress was the center of the attention. To wrap up the look, I wore my favorite mustard platform heels and a red clutch to make the red lines on the dress pop out.

A Minute Stroll Through The Years of Swimsuit History

July 5, 2016

Hey July,

I’m not ready for you yet. I mean my body definitely needs at least a month of going to the gym before you knock on my door. Can you please go home and come back in a month? can we all pretend we are still in June? As I’m fighting with July in my head, I’m skimming through different articles about swimsuit history on the internet. It goes back to a month ago when I was visiting my family in San Francisco. On my fifth day there, we decided to go to Capitola Beach. On our way coming back from the beach, A small billboard caught our eyes in the parking lot. The billboard was showing a picture from early 1900s, five women wearing gowns on the beach. Automatically, the very first thing crossing my mind was, why are they wearing gowns to the beach?! So, That Image in Capitola Beach inspired me to learn more about swimsuit history and share it with you guys.
  • Swimsuit History:

A Parisian engineer, Louis Reard, invented the bikini in 1946. He designed the bikini while working at his mother’s lingerie shop. He named it after the cite of the atomic bomb testing that year; because he thought the public reaction would be like the Atomic Bomb explosion. And, he was Right! His design was based on exposing the belly button for the first time. The bikini was so scandalous that no French models accepted putting it on, so he ended up hiring a stripper to model his bikini.
Before the bikini, most women wore one-piece swimsuits, and if they were having a two-piece on, it would be still very modest and expose a little midriff. Also, they always kept the belly button covered and away from sun. Before that, women wore these bathing costumes, which covered every part of their body, and they used this thing called “ Bathing Machine”. Bathing Machine was a 6x6x6 wooden box or basically a cabana on wheels. The woman would get inside the bathing machine in her regular clothes, and then change into her bathing costume. Horses or sometimes people would drag the bathing machine to the shoreline where the woman would get straight in to the water from the cabana, so that no one would see her in her bathing costume.

We Have Certainly come a long Way since then!

We go to the beach today and you see almost everyone wearing all sorts of different bikinis, which wasn’t an instant hit for the USA back in 50s. In 1957, Modern Girl magazine said, “It is hardly necessary to waste words over the so-called bikini since it is inconceivable that any girl with tact and decency would ever wear such a thing.” Plus, One more writer described bikini as a two-piece bathing suit that revealed everything about a girl except for her mother’s maiden name. So, we can say there was a law of wearing swimsuits on public beaches. Guards at the beach would measure women’s baiting suits, and women wearing bikinis were sure to get kicked off of the beach.
With the 1960s however, it came with the sexual revolution, women’s movement, and rising popularity of the bikini. Soon no one was afraid to wear one, and show her belly button some sunshine. In 1965, a woman told Time Magazine that it almost “Square” to not wear bikini. In 2012, annual spending on the bikini was 8 billion dollars, and the fame of bikini has been tribute to the “ Power of Women” and not “ the power of fashion.”

Ok now, if you are as curious as I am about how we went from beach gowns to up our butts, join me in a minute stroll through the years of swimsuit history.

New Uniform | The Zara Romper

May 16, 2016
Living in Houston has made me rely way more on the weather app than before. OMG! Can this weather get more ugly and unpredictable than it is? YES, I know we need the rain and dah dah dah, but these gloomy days are making me crazy. With unpredictable weather arranging a perfect time for photo shoots are harder. I have no other choice by trusting Google and iPhone weather app to manage a perfect time to take pictures. For example, I knew we had to be done with pictures for this look before 1:00 PM, and thankfully it started to rain around 1:30 PM.
Yesterday was our errands day, so instead of dressing up this pretty Romper from Zara, I dressed it down with my favorite Puma sneakers and a motorcycle denim jacket (seen here). As soon as I saw this peplum romper, I wanted to save it for my trip to SF and style it with my Strapped heel sandals (seen here) or Chunky platform sandals (seen here), but I couldn’t resist not wearing it! Since I can remember, lack of patience in wearing new clothes being a big part of my DNA. I never forget my shoe shopping days. As soon as my mom would buy me a pair of shoes, I would exchange my old one with the new before leaving the store. I would wipe the bottoms off before entering the house that way I could wear them all day long until the bedtime. (That was the daily routine for the next seven days)

Zara jumpsuit 2016

I absolutely adore everything about this romper. The color combination is great for spring/summer, and I love how tiny the straps are. They automatically make the shoulders be the highlight of the look. The peplum part is very appealing and great for hiding any extra muffins. What makes this romper unique is having both short and skirt moment at the same minute. I exactly don’t know what they are called, but to me they are skirt shorts that take me back to when I was 8 years old. I had this little cute lime green outfit, white tank top with green skirt shorts, which I kept refusing to toss away after wearing and tearing them for many years. Uhhm, Yeah, at some point the shorts were real short and the flap over the shorts wouldn’t reach the button to close. ☺                                                                Now you know what will happen to this Romper.Welcome home uniform/Soldier!:)

May 12, 2016
Good Afternoon beautiful people! We had an amazing weekend with our family and friends. The place we went to was Amazing. It only took me three days to catch up with life and work after the mini trip. 🙂 We had a blast and probably got 10 hours of sleep in total for the 3 days we were there. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram for some pictures I’ve took when we were there. Ok, enough of the weekend! I would like to take some time and talk more about how I see fashion or why I’m doing what I’m doing. I hope you guys won’t get bored! I’ve always gotten asked why am I doing blogging and why do I care about fashion. So, here it is 🙂

Bohemian Chic

Urban Outfitters style

My motivation in fashion has always been trying to understand the psychology, philosophy, and theory of it, and I guess that would be the main reason why I’m going to fashion school. You know it’s never about putting clothes on my body because I want to look good. It has been about making a decision to present myself in a certain way to tell a story. So, in that way, fashion is really interesting and compelling for me because it’s so much more than the clothes that we used to wrapped our body. It’s a story we tell and the opinion that we try on. I don’t want anybody to feel that they can’t look nice because of what they decide to wear and what other people would think of them. One of the big reasons why I’m doing blog is that I enjoy talking about what I’m wearing, why I’m wearing it, and show my point of view in fashion. You know sometimes you just purely enjoy what you are doing everyday; so yeah, that’s how I feel right at this moment. I believe happiness is the most important thing in life. I’ve seen elderly people who never felt being happy and they whispered life never had anything to offer them. So on that note, I’m taking advantage of being in the country where I can freely express myself in a way I enjoy, and wait to see what life has stored for me.

I should say, this look is one of my absolute favorite looks of all time. My two favorite pieces in that casual state of minds are definitely High Waist Denim Shorts and black body suits. The combination of the two is always a good idea and looks like you put more effort into the look than you actually did. That’s what I call simple pairing.

Music Festival Outfit

For accessories, I kept it simple with my latest favorite Statement Necklace by Mirina Collections, which really gets to live its best when it’s placed over a simple T-shirt, plain crop top, or in this case a Plain Black Bodysuit. I also added this gorgeous Urban Outfitters Belt Bag, which complements the look perfectly. It makes it easy-going but special at the same time due to the gorgeous color and the stone detail on it. I would recommend wearing a pair of sneakers, gladiator sandals or flat ankle boots. I decided to wrap up my look with this amazing Gucci Ankle Boots, Similar, and wore this cute Hat to hide my messy hair.

That Vintage Jacket Though

May 6, 2016
Good Morning beauties! Finally the weekend has arrived. Our family members are in town from overseas, and it’s a perfect excuse to go on a little weekend getaway. I’m not exactly sure what city we are going to, but as far as I know the place we are staying at is next to Blanco River. I can’t wait to share my experience with you guys when I’m back! 🙂
I’m not going to bored you guys by saying how much or why I love Montrose area and all its vintage shops because you already know from the previous posts. One of my absolute favorite vintage shops is Pavement. Besides shopping there, you can also sell the clothes that you don’t like or wear anymore. What they do is, they set a price they will sell in their shop on your item and give you fifty percent of the price in cash or sixty percent in store credit. Every time I go there, I have an amazing experience. Their customer service is fantastic, and the employees are genuinely nice and helpful.
I love hunting for vintage Jackets, jewels, and bags. Couple of weeks ago, I found this amazing 80s vintage acid wash denim jacket, and couldn’t wait to catch a perfect day to share it with you. It has different patches and the original owner has done color paints all over it. There is something special about it which makes me feel good every time I put it on.  If you are into these types of jacket, but you never buy them because you have no idea how to style them, I hope reading this post inspires you to step out of your comfort zone. Wear whatever you desire, and however you like!

If anybody still loves the skintight dresses or pencil skirts, this jacket is for them. I decided to keep my look denim over denim. I paired the jacket with my burgundy cropped top and one of my old skinny boyfriend jeans. I chose to stay with similar shades of colors in the top, shoes, and handbag to have all the attention on the jacket to make it the statement piece of the look.

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you had an amazing weekend, and you are starting the week with lots of positive energy. We ended up not going to Austin this weekend either. We just needed a relaxing Sunday because the thought of being on the road for six hours round trip wasn’t thrilling at all.
As much as I love having statement pieces in my wardrobe, there are times that I just feel to wear something simple with a twist of style. Honestly, unlike LA, Houston doesn’t offer a lot of occasions that I could wear my statement pieces. So, my advice to you is to never forget to stock up on basic items for those days that you just want to be simple. Trust me sometimes Simple is the best recipe for success. Also, try to highlight your best assets on your body. I believe we are all have something in our body that we love the most weather if it is our skin, different body parts, or Face, which

EVERYBODY should like their face; Yes, you are beautiful just the way you are. 🙂

If you are living somewhere like me where the summers are blazing hot, the last thing we want to feel is being constrained by our clothes. Thanks to the blowy off-the-shoulder tops that bring the perfect combination of sweet and sexy without showing too much skin. It might seem like they make you look bigger, but in fact they are completely flattering on almost every body types and hides any imperfection areas. Like denim, can be worn for more than one type of engagement, you can pair them with any type of shorts, denim pants, or pencil skirts. I will try to post the top in diverse outfits on my Instagram, so you could get different ideas. I found this top on Urbanoutfitters.com in an amazing price, but you can definitely find them at almost any store since they have been part of the trend for the past three years. 🙂

Off-The-shoulder Summer top trend

For this look, I paired the top with my absolute favorite high waist skinny jeans that I basically live in. I didn’t like to leave the look super soft with light colors, so I decided to complete the look by adding my chunky color-block heels and make it more like a 70s look. The minimalism of the look works wonders for any occasion and it’s simple to throw together. Whether I dress it up or down, this is always a reliable outfit that can constantly be reinvented.

Life in Kimono

April 29, 2016

Hello Friends and family! I hope you are having a happiest Friday! We still haven’t planned anything for this weekend, and by saying PLAN I mean we haven’t decided where to take pictures on Sunday. Since I came back from San Francisco, we’ve wanted to go to Austin for the shoot, but the weather has been playing with us for the past two weeks. Who knows we might make it happen this Sunday if my phone don’t lie because as of now, it says it will be mostly sunny. What are your plans for this weekend? anything exciting?

By now, you guys should have noticed how much I love to have a statement piece in my outfits. In this case, I went for a casual look, that could be used for any daily occasions.

Ingredients:

  • Plain black bodysuit
  • Distressed denim pants in any color; I preferred dark grey because of the black body suit.
  • Any kind of shoes, from tennis shoes (here) to flats, wedge sandals or booties. I chose to stay with my dark shades and wear my favorite chunky platform sandals.
  • Last but not least => any type of Kimono or kaftan. 🙂

I have to thank the beautiful city of angels and my dear friend who made me want to buy all the Kimonos on the planet that I can’t afford! I was cleaning my messy closet and making it ready for summer, when noticed this beautiful kimono which my fabulous friend passed on to me and couldn’t resist not sharing it with you guys. I can honestly say I have worn it more than zillion times for the past year. It is such a special piece that every time I put on, all the gold detailing, flowers, color combination, and patterns remind me of my Middle Eastern roots LOL.

Okay, let’s go back to why I chose to stay with dark shades and mostly black. My main focus on this look was making sure that the kimono is standing out ( Of course I wanted to look skinnier too ). Also, the kimono itself  has black color in it, so I tried to make the black parts blend in with the rest of my outfit and make the gold details, flowers, patterns, and all the cream, white, and red colors to shine out through the whole look. I went with all gold accessories to blend in with the kimono’s detail work, and stayed with black purse to make sure the focus is still on the statement piece.

One of the great things about kimonos is that you can wear them with almost anything and still look unique and stylish.

Examples=> midi skin tight dress, Pencil skirt, any denim pants or shorts, and over bathing suit.

Feels Like Summer

April 27, 2016

Hi Everyone! I have a feeling that summertime bliss is going to kick in to a high gear in Houston this year, and my wardrobe is so ready for this! 🙂

With this hot weather, there is nothing better than wearing something light. My outfit choices are really depend on my mood on that particular day. I think my wrapped top/cover from (Free People) reflects the relaxed energy. It is also an effortless, stylish comfort that is suitable for the beach, at a concert or a music festival, or on a hot summary day for brunch. I fell in love with this outfit and think that it’s a match made in co-ord heaven. I love the length of the top, especially when it twirls around whenever there is a breeze. The fit and cut of this khaki wrapped top and high waist Vintage denim shorts are incredibly comfortable and complementary. I didn’t go crazy to accessorize the look since the top already had beautiful details including the gathered neck and a beautiful braided wrapped belt, so I went with my vintage look white stone earrings and a big cuff. I wrapped up my look with my absolute favorite silver sandals. Since the look was very relaxed, I chose not to carry any purse.

Classy Saturdays

April 24, 2016

There is something special about the Montrose area in Houston,TX that somehow reminds me of Silver Lake neighborhood in Los Angeles. I know many people including my mom don’t like LA, but to me LA is home. I’m not going to lie; it wasn’t all perfect when I first moved to Houston. To me, it was just a big quiet city with no character. If you ever been or lived in the Hollywood or Silver Lake neighborhood, you would know what I mean by character. So, even finding a small part of that world here, it makes me a happier girl. I really like the Montrose area, and I think nowhere is as cool as Montrose in Houston! ( If you know any other places, please let me know since I’m still a newbie ). For a change of scenery, my beau and I try our best to go there at least once a week. We love the people there and we always find ourselves talking to different artists. I adore all the little cafes and vintage shops, and love meeting creative people who can teach you something great without teaching you, if it makes sense LOL.

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny Saturday in Houston, especially after days of rain and thunderstorms. We had to take advantage of the beautiful weather to have an outdoor lunch. We went to a very cute English pub called Black Labrador and ended up taking the blog pictures there. For this beautiful day, I felt the need to wear something comfortable yet chic and sophisticated at the same time. That’s exactly the reason why the main item of the look was this pretty dress from Urban Outfitters. The very first thing that attracted me about this dress was the buttons on the A-line skirt. The triangle cutout is placed perfectly where it accentuates the slimmest part of the body, which makes you look skinnier than you are. I probably bought this dress for less than $25 and wore it a million times because it’s one of those effortless chic dresses that you can dress up or down. I set the dress with a pair of black-strapped heel sandals to make it look dressier, and added a fringe bag to make it appropriate for the daytime. For accessories, I wore my Mother’s vintage scarf and stone choker to give it a more 90s look since we are all into it for the past season or so.

What do guys think of the look? I would love to know what do you guys like to see more in the future posts. 🙂
