Knit Crop Top| No Winter Last Forever

February 28, 2017

Perfect Knit Crop Top

There is nothing as quite satisfying as finding the perfect seasonal transitional piece and this knit crop top from For Love and Lemons is just that. The fit is amazing and the fabric isn’t too heavy or too light; making it a great choice for the less cool last days of winter and the beginning of spring.
I have a special love for good quality cable knit sweater tops. I was immediately attracted to this top when I first saw it online. It is best to pair this type of knit crop top with something a little more minimal, so it’s not overshadowed. What’s great about this sweater is that it’s suitable for an evening of lounging or a day out and about.

I personally have worn it to a family friend dinner and paired it with high –waist black trousers and a pair of pumps to dress it up. I wore the top with my high-waist green pants (from this post) and a pair of burgundy ankle boots to a Sunday brunch when we were in Denver. It somehow has the perfect combination of ease and luxury- the epitome of laid-back chic.

Since the weather has been great in Houston, I paired my top with a faux leather pencil skirt. I think most people don’t like to show off their washed out/ pale legs when they wear skirts and I have to say I’m one of them. To solve this problem, fishnet tights are always there to rescue me. They also make your legs look slimmer and toned.

As far as accessories go, I stayed very minimal since the knit crop top is the statement piece of this look. The vintage Chanel brooch was a perfect choice to complement the top. To wfinish up the look, I wore my favorite velvet ankle boots and went with my cool and edgy silver clutch.

90s Fanny Pack | 2016 Belt Bag

May 26, 2016

Remember the 90s favorite accessory, Fanny pack?

Sex and the City Fanny pack

Fanny pack, belt pack, or belly bag is a small fabric pouch usually locked with a zipper or button and worn by use of a strap around the hips or waist. We all remember these bags as the Tourist Bag because people consider them as one of the safest to carry when they travel. Believe it or not, I still spot quite of them at airports especially when I travel internationally. I guess 55 percent of our elementary school kids had them on around the school. Well, lets not forget, on field trips the 55 percent would jump to 90. Of course, I was in that 10 percent cool kid category because I always thought they were just ugly and slouchy plastic bags that were unnecessary to carry since all the kids would carry both backpack on their back and fanny pack around their waist.

uhhhm,

the real story is, I lost my fanny pack when I was 6 years old at a park, where my kindergarten teacher used to take us, on the blue slide. The worst part, was that I had my favorite lipstick in the fanny pack, which I waited patiently for 6 months until it would be the right time for my mom to hand it down to me. By saying “ The right time”, I mean when the lipstick was almost finished.

Heck No,

there was no complain from my side! I was a happy girl who could enjoy the last 3 months of her very first Estee Lauder hot pink lipstick. Luckily, before we know it, by the time we graduated from middle school, the trend was almost over.
Now, everything has changed I’m in love with the evolution of fanny packs, belt bags. They are slimmer and smaller than fanny packs, but fancier. They come in different shapes and fabrics. A great thing about them is, that they have the actual belt straps, so you can wear them with almost anything in your closet. TipsWear them as a belt over jeans and shorts just like you would do with a belt. You can definitely wear them over a dressed shirt, T-shirt or dress.
