Leather Skirts are those things that you always enjoy to have in your closet. They are very easy to style and you can almost wear them all year around except summer times in most places. At least in my situation, wearing leather in Texas, in the summer, is equal to having two fried thighs with little red bumps all over it, which is very painful and unattractive. My apology to you Texan friends, I guess we might need to wait at least another four months to see leather skirts hugging our thighs again.
Being said, since I’m not able to wear leather skirts as much as I used to wear back in San Francisco due to current climate, I have an excuse of not splurging too much money on them. I must confess that I’ve become best friend with a repeated voice in my head, the famous quote, “ I’m not rich enough to buy cheap things” every time I go shopping. It really has helped me to starve my shopping addiction and finally killed it.
So, to me, investing in a good quality faux leather skirt is more beneficial than investing in the real ones because trust me the money I just save right there looks way better somewhere else in my life than around my legs.
To find a good quality faux leather skirt, I follow some personal tips that I would like to share with you:
Never Ever waste your money on low quality faux leather. Set a certain budget, but please don’t buy a skirt because it was very cheap on the clearance rack. Don’t forget quality is always over quantity. I honesty prefer not owning any leather skirt than putting on a low quality faux leather that people can spot the nylon/plastic texture from two miles away.
Always feel the texture before buying, choose the ones that are as soft as the real leather. Don’t choose the overly shiny ones because they tend to look more faux and to get pealed off sooner than the matt ones.
Closely examine the pores of the fabric. Real leather will have inconsistently placed pores while faux leather will have pores that are in consistent pattern. I generally prefer the faux leather with smaller pores because it supervises to look more real.
Always checkout the stitching for anything you buy. I would recommend just taking the skirt and pulled the fabrics apart and make sure the seam is not pulling apart with the fabric. In other words, the stitching should be very tight.
Last but not least, we all know faux leather wont smell like leather and sometimes they can smell very chemically, so smell the fabric before buying it and make sure it has no yucky scent to it.
Ok, lets talk about this look:
From my personal experiences, Zara is one of the great stores who makes affordable good quality faux leather garments. I love everything about this skirt. The color is perfect because you can wear it all year around. The little detailed front stitching and the Silver zipper on the back make the skirt more special. The fabric is very soft and the little slit on the back makes walking much easier since the length is just below the knee. The high waist is absolutely perfect for dressing up or down the skirt in different looks. Usually, my maximum budget for this type of skirts is $50, which in this case I ended up being lucky and bought it for less than $30. So, guess what! You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to look stylish.
One last Tip: Don’t buy clothes for yourself; buy them for your Closet.
It means when you go shopping for an item, make sure it goes with the other garments in your wardrobe. In other words, try to make different outfits out of the item you are purchasing. I honestly can say I have worn this skirt in eight different looks so far.
You don’t believe it?
Here are three looks that you can wear in different occasions.
I would recommend this look when you feel lazy and just want to be comfortable and stylish at the same time.
Great for Sunday Brunch.
Switch to pumps, Grab a clutch, and a shimmery Cardigan! Now You are ready to attend as many as Half Fancy Half Casual Family/friend gatherings later that day.
Now Imagine You still Have the energy To go to a lounge/bar later that night with your friends. Switch the T-Shirt to a Bodysuit or Crop Top; and if you don’t like to get your Favorite pumps ruined, wear any type of High Heels you desire.
After annoying my family over years of being an over packer, I finally came to realization that light traveling is absolutely perfect. Instead of grabbing all different sorts of garments and being confused about what to wear when you get to your destination, plan the outfits for each day while you are packing.
Summer is around the corner and I’m pretty sure the last thing on your to-do list is figuring out what to pack for your vacation. Personally, the biggest challenge I face is always waiting until the night before to pack. Not to mention- stressing about not having enough outfits and time. As probably most of you guys know from my Instagram, I am going to visit my family today.
Situation: 6:30 AM, currently writing this blog while I’m waiting at the gate to board, and praying that will be no thunderstorm or rain until my airplane takes off ON TIME.
Note to Self: REMEMBER Toothbrush and Pen this time.
I’ll be in San Francisco for seven days in total. I already have all day family plans for four days, which requires me to have at least three different outfits for each occasion. Also, packing for the three remaining days would be easier if I take less pieces and more combinations.
Now let’s take a look at how I packed for this trip Last Night 🙂 :
Decided to take one top, which goes with more than one bottom.
Same Strategy for these garments again, but I only packed the shorts since I wore the leather pants and shiny top to the airport.
Took two dresses, one long for the beach and one short for everyday use.
Never forget to grab a pair of denim pants on any vacation because it’s just very easy to style. Also, if you ever decide to visit San Francisco, never forget to take your cashmere shirt with at least one jacket. P.S. I did not pack the white denim jacket since I wore that on the airplane.
Try to not take too many shoes because you end up not wearing all of them. Keep your shoes in the dust bag to protect them from any dirt.
I only packed one pair of heels for my sister’s graduation party.
One pair of flat sandals for everyday use, and one for the pool and beach.
Also, I wore my favorite sneakers on the Plane.
Store your jewelry pieces in separate pouches.
Then put the pouches in your handbag to protect them from tangling and getting lost.
I like to store all my under garments, swim wears, and pajamas in a big pouch.
I like to either use skin care samples or buy traveling size creams when I travel.
And as far as makeup goes I try to just grab my everyday use and not over pack.
The best Packing Tip is to roll your clothes because it prevents them from wrinkling and saves so much space. What I usually do is roll my clothes and lay them down on the bottom of my suitcase and fill in the extra spaces with my flat sandals or shoes.
I try to put the more delicate items on top.
Now You see I was able to fit all my seven day outfits in my carry on bag and still have the top part empty just in case if I like to bring goodies from Cali for my beau.

SPRING is GREAT. The sun shines in most cities except Houston, as I’m writing this sentence in my bedroom aka office lol, Houstonians are facing the worst thunderstorm of their lives. God knows how we are going to have our photo shoot today:(. Since the weather is about to get better, it’s the official time to release ourselves from the prison of coldness that made us put sweaters and pants on most of the season.
IT IS LEG SEASON LADIES! Let that midi skirt be the new mini skirt again.
I understand that we already talked about this Stella McCartney skirt before (Related blog), but I’ve like to show you how I invest on something more expensive. I make sure I can wear it for at least 2 seasons or even all year around.
I BELIEVE VERSATILITY IS THE KEY IN STYLING!
The soft, flexible combination of wool and cotton make this Stella McCartney skirt the perfect fit for a spring day. As if you already read the old blog post, you know how much I love the exquisite detailing on the front. The rope applique’ quickly enhances this gray ensemble from simple to elegant.
I’m a big fan of all different sorts of T-shirts because I believe they go with all types of bottoms, skirts, shorts, and pants. I like to collect all different types of T-shirts from slim fit to 3 size bigger than my actual size lol. Well, it really depends on what I’m wearing it with. And lets not talk about how important is collecting the right basic white T-shirts for different looks because it needs its own separate blog post.
I have a weird obsession over distressed T-shirts because I think they dressed down the look just the right amount, and give the look a bit of edgy vibe. For this outfit, I paired the skirt with my favorite IRO T-shirt, which is 3 size bigger than my usual size. 🙂 The shirt is 100 percent linen, which makes it very soft and comfortable. The color goes pretty much with anything in my closet, so this buy has been a WIN WIN situation.
Oh By the way, aren’t we all reliving the 90s all over again?
In this case, nothing is better than wrapping up the look with my favorite chunky flat-form sandals and leather choker. Well if you miss Spice Gilrs, it’s a best time to invest in some flat/plat-form sandals. For me, I can never have enough of them, so I will post some of my favorite ones down below this post.
Well, I blamed it on the weather to steal his denim jacket. 🙂

Check out my favorite Ftat/Plat- Form Shoes I love:
We all heard about how sharing is caring in any situation, so nothing is better than having a good relationship that the male partner is generous enough to share his closet with us. Ladies, is your wardrobe getting boring? Don’t worry, hop to his closet and see what potential items he has, that would work for you. In my case, I love his button up shirts and jackets. Yes, I go shopping for him quite often, and every time I grab an item, I think of it as an investment for both of us Lol. I mean there is a sayings for it too, “ kill 2 birds with 1 stone”.
You know the interesting thing about fashion, well I should probably say Style, is when you put your favorite clothes on, you feel like yourself, the style is very you, and it basically energizes you and your entire day!
For this look, I chose one of his tuxedo shirts over a regular white shirt because first, it’s a slim fit, which means less fabric to tuck in the skirt and make me look less boxy than the regular dress shirt. Second, I am absolutely obsessed with cufflinks. I’ll never forget the little jealousy fire burning inside of me every time I saw a man with cufflinks on. I would think to myself, why do they get the privilege of wearing cufflinks and not us, women. Seriously though, I’ve never seen a women tuxedo shirt anywhere, but if you have, please let me know because I’m so buying it the next minute. Third, the Collar is slimmer and the buttons are hidden, which make the look seem cleaner than it is.
As you know, I love mixing different fabrics together. For the bottom of this outfit, I decided to go with a different fabric mini skirt (seen before). I absolutely love everything about this skirt, and I can say it was one of my best investments. What makes it more special besides all the cotton detail works and zippers on the outside is the fabulous lining inside. You know I really Appreciate good quality clothes. It can be from flea market or the Chanel boutique. The mix of silk and viscous (Tree Fiber) makes the lining super light, soft, and comfortable vs. some other nylon linings.
Do you guys remember the post we talked about embracing and highlighting the best part of our body (previous post)?
In my case, this skirt is perfect for highlighting my mid thighs since I think they are the best part of my legs. The back is longer than the front, so the sides are the shortest lengthwise, which means hiding the thicker parts of the thighs and showing off the skinniest part.
I paired the look with a pair of gorgeous velvet lace up pumps from Top Shop. As soon as, I eyed these beauties on the sale rack, I came to realization that love at the first sight does exist. The velvet fabric makes the outfit looks cooler, the thick heels and the lace give the look more of a feminine and edgy vibes.

Good Afternoon beautiful people! We had an amazing weekend with our family and friends. The place we went to was Amazing. It only took me three days to catch up with life and work after the mini trip. 🙂 We had a blast and probably got 10 hours of sleep in total for the 3 days we were there. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram for some pictures I’ve took when we were there. Ok, enough of the weekend! I would like to take some time and talk more about how I see fashion or why I’m doing what I’m doing. I hope you guys won’t get bored! I’ve always gotten asked why am I doing blogging and why do I care about fashion. So, here it is 🙂
My motivation in fashion has always been trying to understand the psychology, philosophy, and theory of it, and I guess that would be the main reason why I’m going to fashion school. You know it’s never about putting clothes on my body because I want to look good. It has been about making a decision to present myself in a certain way to tell a story. So, in that way, fashion is really interesting and compelling for me because it’s so much more than the clothes that we used to wrapped our body. It’s a story we tell and the opinion that we try on. I don’t want anybody to feel that they can’t look nice because of what they decide to wear and what other people would think of them. One of the big reasons why I’m doing blog is that I enjoy talking about what I’m wearing, why I’m wearing it, and show my point of view in fashion. You know sometimes you just purely enjoy what you are doing everyday; so yeah, that’s how I feel right at this moment. I believe happiness is the most important thing in life. I’ve seen elderly people who never felt being happy and they whispered life never had anything to offer them. So on that note, I’m taking advantage of being in the country where I can freely express myself in a way I enjoy, and wait to see what life has stored for me.
I should say, this look is one of my absolute favorite looks of all time. My two favorite pieces in that casual state of minds are definitely High Waist Denim Shorts and black body suits. The combination of the two is always a good idea and looks like you put more effort into the look than you actually did. That’s what I call simple pairing.
For accessories, I kept it simple with my latest favorite Statement Necklace by Mirina Collections, which really gets to live its best when it’s placed over a simple T-shirt, plain crop top, or in this case a Plain Black Bodysuit. I also added this gorgeous Urban Outfitters Belt Bag, which complements the look perfectly. It makes it easy-going but special at the same time due to the gorgeous color and the stone detail on it. I would recommend wearing a pair of sneakers, gladiator sandals or flat ankle boots. I decided to wrap up my look with this amazing Gucci Ankle Boots, Similar, and wore this cute Hat to hide my messy hair.
If I were You, I’d wear this to hangout on a Sunday, to a music festival, or if you are like me, wear it wherever and whenever you desire.
Good Morning beauties! Finally the weekend has arrived. Our family members are in town from overseas, and it’s a perfect excuse to go on a little weekend getaway. I’m not exactly sure what city we are going to, but as far as I know the place we are staying at is next to Blanco River. I can’t wait to share my experience with you guys when I’m back! 🙂
I’m not going to bored you guys by saying how much or why I love Montrose area and all its vintage shops because you already know from the previous posts. One of my absolute favorite vintage shops is Pavement. Besides shopping there, you can also sell the clothes that you don’t like or wear anymore. What they do is, they set a price they will sell in their shop on your item and give you fifty percent of the price in cash or sixty percent in store credit. Every time I go there, I have an amazing experience. Their customer service is fantastic, and the employees are genuinely nice and helpful.
I love hunting for vintage Jackets, jewels, and bags. Couple of weeks ago, I found this amazing 80s vintage acid wash denim jacket, and couldn’t wait to catch a perfect day to share it with you. It has different patches and the original owner has done color paints all over it. There is something special about it which makes me feel good every time I put it on. If you are into these types of jacket, but you never buy them because you have no idea how to style them, I hope reading this post inspires you to step out of your comfort zone. Wear whatever you desire, and however you like!
If anybody still loves the skintight dresses or pencil skirts, this jacket is for them. I decided to keep my look denim over denim. I paired the jacket with my burgundy cropped top and one of my old skinny boyfriend jeans. I chose to stay with similar shades of colors in the top, shoes, and handbag to have all the attention on the jacket to make it the statement piece of the look.
Have a great weekend!

Hello Friends and family! I hope you are having a happiest Friday! We still haven’t planned anything for this weekend, and by saying PLAN I mean we haven’t decided where to take pictures on Sunday. Since I came back from San Francisco, we’ve wanted to go to Austin for the shoot, but the weather has been playing with us for the past two weeks. Who knows we might make it happen this Sunday if my phone don’t lie because as of now, it says it will be mostly sunny. What are your plans for this weekend? anything exciting?
By now, you guys should have noticed how much I love to have a statement piece in my outfits. In this case, I went for a casual look, that could be used for any daily occasions.
- Plain black bodysuit
- Distressed denim pants in any color; I preferred dark grey because of the black body suit.
- Any kind of shoes, from tennis shoes (here) to flats, wedge sandals or booties. I chose to stay with my dark shades and wear my favorite chunky platform sandals.
- Last but not least => any type of Kimono or kaftan. 🙂
I have to thank the beautiful city of angels and my dear friend who made me want to buy all the Kimonos on the planet that I can’t afford! I was cleaning my messy closet and making it ready for summer, when noticed this beautiful kimono which my fabulous friend passed on to me and couldn’t resist not sharing it with you guys. I can honestly say I have worn it more than zillion times for the past year. It is such a special piece that every time I put on, all the gold detailing, flowers, color combination, and patterns remind me of my Middle Eastern roots LOL.
Okay, let’s go back to why I chose to stay with dark shades and mostly black. My main focus on this look was making sure that the kimono is standing out ( Of course I wanted to look skinnier too ). Also, the kimono itself has black color in it, so I tried to make the black parts blend in with the rest of my outfit and make the gold details, flowers, patterns, and all the cream, white, and red colors to shine out through the whole look. I went with all gold accessories to blend in with the kimono’s detail work, and stayed with black purse to make sure the focus is still on the statement piece.
One of the great things about kimonos is that you can wear them with almost anything and still look unique and stylish.
Examples=> midi skin tight dress, Pencil skirt, any denim pants or shorts, and over bathing suit.

Hi Everyone! I have a feeling that summertime bliss is going to kick in to a high gear in Houston this year, and my wardrobe is so ready for this! 🙂
With this hot weather, there is nothing better than wearing something light. My outfit choices are really depend on my mood on that particular day. I think my wrapped top/cover from (Free People) reflects the relaxed energy. It is also an effortless, stylish comfort that is suitable for the beach, at a concert or a music festival, or on a hot summary day for brunch. I fell in love with this outfit and think that it’s a match made in co-ord heaven. I love the length of the top, especially when it twirls around whenever there is a breeze. The fit and cut of this khaki wrapped top and high waist Vintage denim shorts are incredibly comfortable and complementary. I didn’t go crazy to accessorize the look since the top already had beautiful details including the gathered neck and a beautiful braided wrapped belt, so I went with my vintage look white stone earrings and a big cuff. I wrapped up my look with my absolute favorite silver sandals. Since the look was very relaxed, I chose not to carry any purse.
I was Wearing:
High waist Levi’s shorts, old- similar
There is something special about the Montrose area in Houston,TX that somehow reminds me of Silver Lake neighborhood in Los Angeles. I know many people including my mom don’t like LA, but to me LA is home. I’m not going to lie; it wasn’t all perfect when I first moved to Houston. To me, it was just a big quiet city with no character. If you ever been or lived in the Hollywood or Silver Lake neighborhood, you would know what I mean by character. So, even finding a small part of that world here, it makes me a happier girl. I really like the Montrose area, and I think nowhere is as cool as Montrose in Houston! ( If you know any other places, please let me know since I’m still a newbie ). For a change of scenery, my beau and I try our best to go there at least once a week. We love the people there and we always find ourselves talking to different artists. I adore all the little cafes and vintage shops, and love meeting creative people who can teach you something great without teaching you, if it makes sense LOL.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny Saturday in Houston, especially after days of rain and thunderstorms. We had to take advantage of the beautiful weather to have an outdoor lunch. We went to a very cute English pub called Black Labrador and ended up taking the blog pictures there. For this beautiful day, I felt the need to wear something comfortable yet chic and sophisticated at the same time. That’s exactly the reason why the main item of the look was this pretty dress from Urban Outfitters. The very first thing that attracted me about this dress was the buttons on the A-line skirt. The triangle cutout is placed perfectly where it accentuates the slimmest part of the body, which makes you look skinnier than you are. I probably bought this dress for less than $25 and wore it a million times because it’s one of those effortless chic dresses that you can dress up or down. I set the dress with a pair of black-strapped heel sandals to make it look dressier, and added a fringe bag to make it appropriate for the daytime. For accessories, I wore my Mother’s vintage scarf and stone choker to give it a more 90s look since we are all into it for the past season or so.
What do guys think of the look? I would love to know what do you guys like to see more in the future posts. 🙂
