How to Buy Faux Leather Easier?

June 7, 2016
Leather Skirts are those things that you always enjoy to have in your closet. They are very easy to style and you can almost wear them all year around except summer times in most places. At least in my situation, wearing leather in Texas, in the summer, is equal to having two fried thighs with little red bumps all over it, which is very painful and unattractive. My apology to you Texan friends, I guess we might need to wait at least another four months to see leather skirts hugging our thighs again.
Being said, since I’m not able to wear leather skirts as much as I used to wear back in San Francisco due to current climate, I have an excuse of not splurging too much money on them. I must confess that I’ve become best friend with a repeated voice in my head, the famous quote, “ I’m not rich enough to buy cheap things” every time I go shopping. It really has helped me to starve my shopping addiction and finally killed it.
So, to me, investing in a good quality faux leather skirt is more beneficial than investing in the real ones because trust me the money I just save right there looks way better somewhere else in my life than around my legs.

To find a good quality faux leather skirt, I follow some personal tips that I would like to share with you:

  • Never Ever waste your money on low quality faux leather. Set a certain budget, but please don’t buy a skirt because it was very cheap on the clearance rack. Don’t forget quality is always over quantity. I honesty prefer not owning any leather skirt than putting on a low quality faux leather that people can spot the nylon/plastic texture from two miles away.

  • Always feel the texture before buying, choose the ones that are as soft as the real leather. Don’t choose the overly shiny ones because they tend to look more faux and to get pealed off sooner than the matt ones.

  • Closely examine the pores of the fabric. Real leather will have inconsistently placed pores while faux leather will have pores that are in consistent pattern. I generally prefer the faux leather with smaller pores because it supervises to look more real.

  • Always checkout the stitching for anything you buy. I would recommend just taking the skirt and pulled the fabrics apart and make sure the seam is not pulling apart with the fabric. In other words, the stitching should be very tight.

  • Last but not least, we all know faux leather wont smell like leather and sometimes they can smell very chemically, so smell the fabric before buying it and make sure it has no yucky scent to it.

Ok, lets talk about this look:

From my personal experiences, Zara is one of the great stores who makes affordable good quality faux leather garments. I love everything about this skirt. The color is perfect because you can wear it all year around. The little detailed front stitching and the Silver zipper on the back make the skirt more special. The fabric is very soft and the little slit on the back makes walking much easier since the length is just below the knee. The high waist is absolutely perfect for dressing up or down the skirt in different looks. Usually, my maximum budget for this type of skirts is $50, which in this case I ended up being lucky and bought it for less than $30. So, guess what! You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to look stylish.

One last Tip: Don’t buy clothes for yourself; buy them for your Closet.

It means when you go shopping for an item, make sure it goes with the other garments in your wardrobe. In other words, try to make different outfits out of the item you are purchasing. I honestly can say I have worn this skirt in eight different looks so far.
You don’t believe it?
Here are three looks that you can wear in different occasions.

Nostalgic Memories

April 9, 2016

A 16 year old girl moved from Iran to San Francisco a decade ago wondering about what she should do with her life. It took me only eight years 🙂 to finally realize I must follow my heart and do what I’ve always loved. I must say, I am lucky enough to have an amazing partner who has encouraged me to do what I have passion for.

Note to Self: Late is better than Never, and everything you imagine is REAL.

Lets go back to where it all got started, Redwood Shores, CA. Shores will always be home where I’d spent most of my teenage years with my beautiful family. Every time I go back there to visit my family, I have to stroll around the neighborhood to refresh some good memories. From volunteering at my sister’s school, tutoring at the library, to having my first office job at a bank two blocks away from home. So, I could not resist sharing with you some of my favorite spots in the area.

Probably you guys already saw the look on Instagram few days ago. 🙂 Yes, I can never wait! As you know I love jump suits! To me they are the most comfortable, stylish, effortless garments that you can wear any time of the day or night for any occasion. For this look, I paired the jumpsuit with my favorite sandal pumps, that you already saw me wearing a zillion times, and a blush color clutch to give it more of a spring look. As it was getting darker, the weather got cooler, so I decided to give it a try and wear my black leather jacket over it. What do you guys think?

You can also wear this jumpsuit with flat shoes and wear an oversized knit top over it for cooler nights and still be stylish. (That’s what I wore later that night at a family dinner) 🙂

I hope you guys are having an amazing weekend!

Until then,

Xoxo

Happy Hump-Day beautiful readers! I am so ready for tomorrow and can’t wait to visit my beautiful Family and the city, San Francisco, after 3 months. I will stroll through the streets that I love and get inspired by. You can follow me from Ashby to the ends of Golden Gate Bridge on Snapchat: parmsi, and/or on Instagram: @parmsi. 🙂

Wearing Black always makes me feel sophisticated and confident without too much hassle. This beautiful Dress from Zara is great because it’s the perfect length to wear with stocking and booties for Fall/Winter or pair it alone with strapped heel sandals in spring. It is definitely a go-to dress in any occasion when I can’t figure out what to wear; its simplicity is consistently reliable.

The dress is velvet and elegant with just the right amount of detailing, like the flare sleeves and the lace work on front of the top. These unexpected small things make all the difference and take this seemingly simple black dress to another level. I finished the look with my absolute favorite strapped-heel sandals and the black/burgundy purse to match with my makeup.

What Do you guys think?

Bohemian Chic

March 27, 2016

Sunday is my favorite day of the week. My beau and I try our best to maintain our Sunday brunch and photo-shoot ritual every week. Although it seems to be a relaxing day, sometimes it’s the busiest day of the week. There are family and friend gatherings on Sundays at times which we need to attend. We have to rush the shoot in the morning so we don’t have to postpone them for later that day after a full meal with bloated body and tired face. We absolutely don’t like to miss out on seeing our loved ones, so we try to plan the day ahead. On those Sundays, I usually wake up pretty early to get ready for the shoot, so we get the best out of the daylight. I have to keep my makeup looking fresh throughout the day, so I grab some of my touchup goodies in my purse; such as a pencil eye and lip liner, lipstick, blush and highlighter. As far as the outfit goes, I need to pick something that works for the blog and the event that day, since there is no time to go home and change. For me, Sundays are called for pairing a bodysuit with denim pants with the twist of style.

I absolutely adore this long dress/cover-up I was wearing for this look. I love the way the fabric wrapped around my body and how flattering it was. I like all the lace detail works on the top and how it was fitted until it hit the waist and dropped from the waist down. I have worn it many times for different looks. You can definitely wear it with high waist vintage Levis shorts for summer or as a beautiful cover up over your swimsuits.

When the Wrapped Skirt Meets the City!

February 24, 2016

Hey guys! I hope you have had an amazing week so far! I’m going to post the fashion blog of this week a little sooner than Friday because I will be out of country. Two days ago, I lost my beloved grandfather back in Iran, and I’m leaving to join my family to celebrate his prosperous life back home.

I have always liked the wrapped skirts. You can wear them alone, over a baiting suit, or even a dress. I found this skirt at Urban Outfitter on the sale rack and it cost me less than $20. I love how it has different adjusting buttons inside the belt area for different looks. You can wear it tighter over swimsuit to make the skirt flow when you walk, or wear it looser for the street wear. When you wear it looser, it hangs right above your hips and shows less leg than when you wear it tight.

Believe it or not the top that I paired with this skirt is a DRESS! One of my favorite online stores at the moment is Naked Wardrobe, where I ordered this dress. Unfortunately, when I received the dress, it was too short. Since I loved everything about the dress, I decided instead of returning it I will wear it as a top. The mock neck and the color is perfection and the fabric is very soft and comfortable. I wore a big gold statement necklace to make the look a bit dressier.

When the weather is cold, I usually wear the skirt with booties and throw a black fur west on! In this look, I went for my favorite sandal pumps and finished it up with the burgundy and black purse to add a little color to the overall look.

I hope you guys enjoy this look!

P.S. I am posting more pictures in this post than context since I only have 3 hours to pack, shower, and get ready!

Special Thanks to the photogropher, Shahram Faghirloo for this amazing shoot!

Hug your loved ones a little tighter for me today. Whole lotta love!

See you soon.

Jumpsuit & Suede Jacket

February 12, 2016

JUMPSUITS! I love JUMPSUITS.

They are easy to wear, stylish and you can dress them up or down. I do get lots of petite clients who are afraid of jumpsuits because they think they have to be slim and tall to wear them. Ladies try them on!! There is no such thing that they are only great for tall people, they actually can make you slimmer and taller. There are many brands out there who make great jumpsuits! I will post some links on the bottom of this post. Continue Reading…
